Welcome Home Veterans Park
The 2008 National Defense Authorization Act authorized a program to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. Operation Welcome Home AZ and the Town of Gilbert were awarded this partnership. To honor the spirit of this partnership they have undertaken the audacious mission to create a 7.7 acre veterans park anchored by a 360 ft long, 8 foot high Vietnam Memorial tribute Wall that will be a 80 percent scale of the Wall in Washington D.C. The park will provide healing, education, and inspiration to the people of Arizona and beyond.
This park in its completion will have an education center to accommodate extensive year-round programming, including engagement with k-12 schools in Arizona. Future phases will also include installations to honor those that have served in past, present, and future wars.
The AZ Wall Project is part of Operation Welcome Home AZ, a 501(c)3 charitable organization. The organization is comprised of all volunteers with no paid staff. Brian volunteers his time as a member of the Design/Construction Committee along with professional services for the education center.
